With the development of economic strength and comprehensive national strength, more and more foreigners come to China to learn Chinese. However, comparing with the traditional disciplines like ancient literature, philology and so on, study on teaching Chinese to speakers as a second language is comparatively rare. A language includes three core elements—phone, vocabulary and grammar. While vocabulary, which should have been a main link in teaching, has not been taken seriously all the time. Because of the fact that learners in different stages have different learning psychology and needs, they are divided into two parts—the primary and the intermediate—by the writer of the thesis. It is based on the theory of linguistics and cognitive psychology, combining with the materials collected during the writer’s teaching experience. What’s more, the writer puts forward some strategies on words explaining to get better teaching effects on the basis of different learning levels, hoping it will do good for vocabulary teaching research.
