Reading The Thatched Cottage Notebook Appellation Words Research

The appellation has been a common but complicated issue in Chinese ancient culture. It is closely related to the special social system, patriarch system and marriage system of Chinese ancient times. There have been many achievements in this field. However, less information specially concerns the appellation words. Besides, there haven’t any dissertations concentrating on the study of appellation words in the Fantastic Tales by Ji Xiaolan. Based on this unbalanced researching phenomenon and the existing study, this thesis will comprehensively explore the appellation words in Fantastic Tales by Ji Xiaolan and provide basic information for the dynastic study and macro-research of the appellation words.This paper will describe and explain ninety-eight relative appellation terms and seven hundred and thirty-five social appellation words which are figured out by the author in the Fantastic Tales by Ji Xiaolan. Besides, the author will also deal with the word formation, and emotional expression.There are six chapters in this thesis.In the first chapter, which is also named the introduction, the author will simply introduce the general study, demarcation and classification of the Chinese appellation words. Besides, the author will also recommend the significance and means of the study on the appellation words.The second chapter will thoroughly represent and research the relative appellation words in the Fantastic Tales by Ji Xiaolan on the diachronic level. Compared with Erh Ya(an ancient book containing commentaries on classics, names, etc.) and Modern Chinese on the synchronic level, this paper will conclude the appellation words’evolving characteristics in the theory of vocabulary developing.The third chapter:through learning from the classification of social appellation in Study on Appellation Words in the History of the Three Kingdoms, the author will do the classified research on the social appellation words. Connecting with the characteristics of the appellation words in Fantastic Tales by Ji Xiaolan, the author will describe and analyze the distinctive appellation in detail.The fourth chapter will generally represent emotional expression of appellation words in Fantastic Tales by Ji Xiaolan.The fifth chapter will discuss the word formation of Fantastic Tales by Ji Xiaolan.In the conclusion part, the author will conclude the characteristics of the appellation words in Fantastic Tales by Ji Xiaolan.
