The Use Of "drama" Music Elements And Thinking

For many years, the music composting specialized field has shown a diversified development trend in contemporary China. There are lots of Chinese musicians did the research about how to fuse Chinese traditional opera musical element with the western composing techniques in their creations. The author thinks the spirits of Chinese music is the traditional Chinese opera which should applied in the future creation of Chinese symphony. However, this practice should be a deeply exposure of the heart of Chinese tradition music rather than just a lip-deep expression. Thus, the work’Song of the Traveler-Violio and Orchestra’has become one of the practical methods of applying these ideas.This paper is regarding to the study of the composing skills and theoretical technology. Shanxi opera (Qinqiang) as one of the most influential music elements in Chinese traditional music history, presents the voices of Qin because its melodies were originated from the rural area of ancient Shanxi and Gansu province. Based on one of the tunes of Qinqiang which is called’Ku Yin Yong Shou An’express the felling of loneliness and distress, the author establishes the theme of’homesick’which been applied into the work of’Song of the Traveler’. Thus, the’Song of the Traveler’has the northwest Chinese music style which as the key of foundation. Yet, the Western symphony basic composing techniques also have been used for the work which presents a good fusion of Chinese traditional music expression and western composing techniques. There several reasons lead the author considers making these creation ideas. Firstly,’Song of the Traveler’as the graduation work for the MFA, the author devoted himself to apply the composing techniques and theories which were learned from the master study according to the creation. Secondly, the author is influenced by the traditional Chinese music deeply and thinks the Chinese traditional style symphony music should be and can be developed and applied in future musical creation. Thirdly, it is important practical for not only the author but also all the Chinese composer to applied themselves to search an optimum way to develop Chinese traditional music work to the world music.This paper will pay more attention to state and discuss how the author applies to fuse Chinese traditional opera musical element with the western composing techniques according to the creation of the work’Song of the Traveler-Violio and Orchestra’.
