The new century urban literature has passed eleven years, in thecontext of new era, the urban novels present a prosperous situation,which represent the hope of the future literature. They widely describepeoples lifestyle and aesthetic paradigm changes, and present newchanges, such as narrative Angle, narrative theme, narrativemethods.In face of these new changes,it is necessary to summaries thedevelopment of new century urban novels.The paper around four aspects to discuss: overview of the newcentury urban novel writing,urbanite in the novel–various survivedemands,urban in the novel-urban imagination and construction,thenarration of urban novels. Chapter One summarize the new centuryurban novels and analysis the diffrence between the new centurynovels and historical urban novels,including writing tendencies,themeschange and so on mainly emergence from the1990s.Chapter twobeign with the description of urban survival demands of the urbanite,through the analysis of the specific characters to perform urbanitesliving condition and mental outlook. Chapter three,which from theperspective of regional culture, describe the urban writingcharacteristics of Shanghai,Beijing, Shenzhen, Wuhan,that are fourtypical Chinese cities. Due to their different geographical conditionsand historical development, urban writing show various characteristics.On the one hand, writers have different life experiences,so theypresent different city imagination.On the other hand, urban novelsimpact the construction of actual urban. Chapter four mainly disscussnarrative strategy, it is an important aspect of the novel. From theaspect of narrative type, narrative technique,narrative perspective tosummarizes the narrative feature of the new century urban novels.
