Mourning poetry is the only poem type that combines love anddeath. It takes a long period of time for it to become mature since itsappearance, with its connotation getting richer, and writing techniquegetting improved.This paper plans to arrange the structure from two aspects, that isemotion and sense of life, and trace back to the source of the emotioncharacteristics and sense of life in the mourning poetry, with Pan Yue`smourning poetry as the focal point. Part One defines the mourningpoetry and traces back to the source of mourning poetry before PanYue`s. It also discusses other literary forms concerning mourning subject,and explains their relationships. Part Two focuses closely on theexplanation of the meaning of Pan Yue`s mourning poetry; it alsouncovers the relation of Pan`s mourning poetry by putting in order theemotion models and images in Pan1s mourning poetry. On the basis ofthat, the characteristics of Pan`s mourning poetry will be summarized.Part Three explains the emotion models and images of Pan`s mourningpoetry, and summarises the creation part of Pan`s mourning poetry. Thispart pays more attention to explaining the texts themselves, includingcomparison between Pan`s mourning poetry and the mourning poetrybefore him and explanation of Pan`s different poems. The last partdiscusses the relationship of mourning poetry and inscriptions onmemorial tablets for dead wives, from which we can find the differencebetween Pan`s mourning poetry and the inscriptions, and the mutualimpacts in the developing progress.
