Queue songs are songs suitable for people to sing while marching,therefore they bear march style.“Queue Songs with Fighting Spirit”,produced in the end of2004by army musical talents gathered by the P.L.A.General Political Department, are a group of such queue songs with thesame theme. Those songs were aimed to help implement Chairman HuJintao’s important instructions, i.e., to shoulder new historical missionsand to vigorously carry forward the fighting spirit, and to help in theeducational activities in all the P.L.A. units to “strengthen the fightingspirit and to improve the ability to win”. As an organized, planned musicalproposition creation,“Queue Songs with Fighting Spirit” have beenpopular among officers and soldiers and have won the attention of allsocial circles. Having been widely sung in the P.L.A., these songs havegained great popularity in the new century.This article generalizes the creation traditions of the P.L.A. queuesongs, analyzes the forms of some representative songs in “Queue Songswith Fighting Spirit”, and explores from the angle of the P.L.A. musicalculture the implied style and artistic accomplishments of those songs thatwere created in the new century and bear the fighting spirit. What isconcluded in the end are: firstly, the theme of “Queue Songs with FightingSpirit” is endowed with characteristics of the times. Secondly, the musicallanguage has absorbed the style of traditional Chinese music. Thirdly, theartistic image highlights the fighting spirit. Fourthly, the forms ofexpressions are easy to learn and sing. With the above features, thosesongs combined the fighting spirit, the Chinese style, the popularity andthe call of the times. Therefore, they are the inheritance and developmentof the P.L.A. queue songs in the new historical period.
