| As we all know, the Chinese New Culture Movement in China is enlightening to the New Literature Movement in Taiwan, and it can be said that the New Literature in Taiwan is the inheritance and development of the May Fourth literature.During this period, the May Fourth writers, with Lu Xun as the pioneer, were introduced to Taiwan one after another, and their advanced ideological and cultural consciousness, sharp writing and rhetoric were accepted by Taiwanese writers who had long been subjected to Japanese colonial rule, causing a sensational effect. In the 1920 s,the Taiwan People’s Daily published Lu Xun’s works such as The Hometown,Diary of a Madman and The True Story of Ah Q,which enlightened the Taiwanese academy and gave rise to a large number of new literary writers such as Lai Ho and Yang Kui,who were of seminal importance in the history of Taiwanese literature.Generally speaking, texts in the same genre are more comparable and informative, and the novel,as one of the fastest and most widespread literary genres, shows the influence of writers. This essay focuses on the influence of Lu Xun’s novels on Taiwanese novels of the Japanese period, from the exchanges between Lu Xun and Taiwanese writers of the Japanese period to the influence of Lu Xun’s novels on the ideological content, characterization and artistic techniques of Taiwanese novels, and in this way provides a detailed analysis. The main body of the thesis is divided into five parts. The introduction briefly explains the proposal and significance of the thesis,an overview of the research and the research methodology,as well as the reasons for taking the period from 1923 to 1945 in the Japanese occupation period of Taiwan as the focus of discussion. The first part explains the “overview of the dissemination of Lu Xun in Taiwan during the Japanese Occupation”.The author gives a detailed discussion from two main aspects: on the one hand, the historical development of Lu Xun’s literature in Taiwan during the Japanese period, and on the other hand, the reception of new literary writers in Taiwan in terms of the transformation of Lu Xun’s image. The second part expounds the “realistic fighting spirit and community of destiny”.It looks for the realistic foundation and theoretical basis for the acceptance of Lu Xun’s literature by writers of new Taiwanese literature, starting from three aspects: the basis of reception, the realistic fighting spirit, and the imaginative community of Lu Xun’s literature during the Japanese Occupation. The third part elaborates “the influence of Lu Xun’s novels on the ideological content of Taiwanese novels during the Japanese Occupation”.This section is carried out by focusing on the enlightenment ideology of Lu Xun’s “spirit of the countryside”,the critical ideology of the “humanitarian spirit”,and the resistance and struggle ideology of the “spirit of struggle” embodied in Taiwanese novels during the Japanese occupation period. The three directions are discussed to reveal the anti-feudal and anti-colonial spirit of Taiwan’s new literary writers as influenced by Lu Xun’s thought. The fourth part discusses “the influence of Lu Xun’s novels on the writing of characters in Taiwanese novels during the Japanese Occupation”.It discusses the“elements of Lu Xun” in the characters in the novels of Taiwan during the Japanese period from three aspects: the image of intellectuals, the image of women, and the image of peasants, which reveal the common tragic fate of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait during the Japanese colonial period despite their different identities. The fifth part discusses “the influence of Lu Xun’s novels on the artistic approach to the creation of novels in Taiwan during the Japanese Occupation”.It discusses the influence of Lu Xun’s novels on Taiwan’s novels during the Japanese colonial period in terms of innovative ideas, narrative perspectives, satirical techniques, and other artistic techniques, and explores the “Lu Xun’s writing style”inherited and developed by Taiwanese novels during this period. The concluding part summarizes the value and significance of Lu Xun to Taiwan’s new literature in terms of historical, practical, and literary significance,as well as the cultural identity, identity, and sense of motherland embodied in the works of Taiwan’s new literary writers. |
