Children' s fighting behavior, often symbolized by obvious body touch is not a rare activity in a child' s intercourse with other children. It is a common conflict behavior proper to children. It can be imagined that the occurrence and appeasement of children' s fighting behavior may be influenced by some certain self-representations and by different sub-culture thus showing some sub-culture features. The author tries to analyze the inherent developing mechanism of children' s fighting behavior from an angle of self- representations and further analyzes characteristics of self-representations and sub-culture embodied by children' s fighting behavior, expecting to find children' s self adjustments in the conflict context and to provide some suggestions for chidren' s growth education which is conducive to a child' s physical and and mental development.The study involves 796 children from schools in Shanghai and Shandong with an aim to testing the mechanism of fighting occurrence and appeasement and characteristics of self- representations through self-made questionnare. The study shows:1. Children' s fighting behavior mainly results from the vent of the body energy, safeguarding individual and collective interests and strenthening the fellowship.2. Among the above-mentioned factors, the vent of body energy takes a large proportion. Fightings characterized by the vent of energy and pressure are on the increasing trend. Furthermore, all types of fighting interplays, showing that chidren' s fighting result from the vent of body energy and adjustment to some extent. Therefore,school games should be well controlled.3. The questionare shows, from the Grade Four in primary school, fightings , especially among boys and girls increase obviously. It seems that fightings become one way of opposite sex contact. Therefore, civilized opposite sex contact shall be directed.4. Fightings of Shanghai opposite sex testees shows advantage of Shandong, especially entering the middle school. Shandong testees shows advantage in terms of relational self and collective self representations leading to fighting. All those reflect the characteristics of different sub-culture.5. The relational self and collective self representations take effect in fighting occurrence and the abilities of copying with appeasement . Therefore, the abilities to deal with conflicts should be cultivated and the experience of fighting should be changed .
