Since the80’s, the Chinese language has made great strides in Semantics, as the result of that, more and more attention was paid to the verbs of specific-category, that is to classify the verbs as small categories according to their meanings. Till now, there have been many studies on specific-category verbs which mainly have the same one or more semantic features in one category. In this dissertation, we’ll study the verbs which mainly include the following semantic features:[+definite][+fixed][+affirmative][+conclusive], and all of them place their emphasis on the morpheme "Ding", so here we classify these verbs as the Queding-category.Focusing on the Queding-category verbs, the dissertation elaborately analyzes their lexical meanings, and syntax by combining their definitions in the dictionaries and authentic materials from corpus. At the same time, there will also be some analysis of pragmatics which is the arguments collocations part as chapter four.On semantics, the dissertation will analyze the lexical meaning of the verbs at the beginning, by getting the definitions mainly from the following dictionaries, Modern Chinese Dictionary, Reverse-order Verb Dictionary, Concise Contemporary Chinese Dictionary, Dictionary for Standard Usages of Modern Chinese, and referring to the model of lexical components-lexical structure analysis of Fu Huaiqing’s (1996) studies on the lexical meanings of the verbs indicating the movements and behaviors. Then we try to analyze the derived meanings and their forms according to the context. In the last part of the semantic analysis, we classify these verbs into two smaller scopes on the basis of their different emphasis on the four semantic features, find out the typical members and atypical ones.At the level of syntax, the dissertation describes these verbs’ syntactic functions and the sentence patterns. As for the function part, we describe the verbs function in details both as predicate and non-predicate, and the most important part is when the verbs have different objects. And as for the patterns, we find out both the basic ones and several special ones in which these verbs appear frequently according to the linguistic data, finally we’ll get a census about the special patterns selecting. On the realization of the verbs’ arguments, the dissertation separately analyzes the main arguments of these verbs like the agent of the action, the target objects and the recipient of the action on the basis of the authentic materials from the corpus.
