Shanghai has been influenced by western in technology, culture and many other aspects since thelate Qing dynasty. Shanghai is one of the core of Chinese textile bases in the middle of20thcentury and it plays important lead role for other area in dyeing and printing technology anddesign level. Another important reason is: at that time, Shanghai has a large number of thenational top level of printing and dyeing designer group. In the modern history of design research,consumption culture has gradually become the center of research, and I think at the time ofShanghai printing and dyeing designer group, is both popular consumption culture creator, alsois the experience on the popular consumption culture and the formation of the development playsan important role in, so, this article to the middle of the twentieth century (1949-1979) Shanghaiprinting and dyeing designer group as the main research object, trying to from a new perspectivestylist and consumer culture discussed the relationship.This paper first through to the middle of the twentieth century Shanghai printing and dyeingdesigner group development background, development characteristics and so on various research,reveals the reason of Shanghai printing and dyeing designer group of formation and developmentand particularity---in a variety of personnel structure and different professional structure,it forms the design level of higher and rich design characteristics, not only on the leadingedge of trend in the consumer market, but also has important lead of the dyeing and printingdesign and guidance to other areas of the country. Then based on the image data and samples ofprinting to analyze the period of development grain and summarized the development of printingand dyeing design contexts, each phase of the characteristic and in the market and theinternational fashion trend, the impact of the Shanghai printing and dyeing design in inheritthe traditional continually on the basis of absorbing foreign pattern characteristics, formingan extremely rich textiles and varied design style characteristics. Second from case studiesof stylist analyze an individual stylist and the influence in the group. Finally the conclusionand presents the author of modern textile art design and consumer culture development of therelationship between thinking.
