Lexical collocation with a depth of vocabulary knowledge, has attracted the interest of linguists, and research and discussion, is the difficulty but a key point in second language teaching. In addition, from the1990s, some of our linguists began to do the research on this field of contrastive study. In China, the contrastive study of this approach has been used in English teaching practice. For a long time the foreign language teaching quality has been seen greatly improved. With the lexical collocation of foreign language teaching process, the contrastive approach is used in it, which can improve teaching efficiency and do good to the teaching quality.In this thesis, starting from the features of the English and Chinese languages, using the method of comparative analysis shows the similarities and differences of lexical collocative habits in both English and Chinese. Then, it develops into the causes of the errors made by the students who are native English speaker. And finally, the thesis on this basis makes some suggestions and strategies to improve Chinese teaching to the foreigners. The author hopes that it can not only help English-speaking students in the process of learning Chinese, but also provide a reference for Chinese language teaching workers.This thesis consists of six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction section to highlight the meaning and classification of collocation, and describes the purpose of this study and its practical significance. Chapter two mainly makes comparison and contrast between English and Chinese from different aspects, and also introduces the general rules and structure about lexical collocation of the two languages. Chapter three sums up the errors that are made by students and also the causes. Chapter four makes some suggestions and strategies to improve Chinese teaching quality. The fifth chapter is a summary of this research, and gives me a right direction for my further study.
