Buddhism was introduced to China in Han dynasty and accepted actually in the period of Wei and Jin, and then become prosperous.It should be concerned that the Buddhism was first spread among the noble. It was when the metaphysics was popular that Buddhism was noticed by the noble. People were talking nothingness, putting Confucianism classic aside, when several eminent monks were sitting beside, who explained Taoism with Buddhism’s wisdom. As a result, those noble who controlled the fate of the nation but have no power to change it found a place where their soul can be settled. Buddhism was developed in that contradictious environment. It depended on Taoism, Xuanyan and the noble, and finally grow up as a power which can withstand Taoism.As the ups and downs of Jian’an Fenggu, Zhengshi Xuanfen, Taikang Poems, Nature Poems, Gongti Poems were like the Goddess Luo, began to dance gracefully. Nan Dynasty was a era of contradiction. The noble lived on tenterhooks may appreciate beauties while chanting Buddhism texts.It can not be denied that Gongti Poems were looked down upon. Though people may identify with the splendid style of writing, they would still criticize their erotic thought. The emperor Li Shimin, however, liked this kind of vulgar tone.Then we have to think about this, wether women in poems were just playthings. Xiao Gang allowed his son’s writing to be dissolute, but on the basis of being cautious on conducting himself. Their discipline was based on Confucian Classics. Loyalty and filial piety were their fist discipline. Those Gongti poets were all upright, loyal or filial. Those people who lost their ambition to return to the North, and were indulged in the leisure of the South. They had to confront with the recurrent change of dynasties and the emperors’ rage. In the north, two thousand intellectual died in the Heyin rebellion. In the south, however, death was much more painstaking. Then people need something to rely on. Buddhism went into intellectuals’ life with the theory that everything is variable. It would take people to the paradise after painstaking misery.It was divided into for chapters to discuss Buddhism’s influence on Gongti Poets.In chapter I, we will describe the development of Buddhism in Nan Dynasty. Analysis the relationship between Buddhism and literature. Analysis the influence of Buddhism on Gongti poets, and defy Gongti Poets on this basic.Chapter II will analysis the affect of Mahaparinibbana Sutta on Gongti Poets. Through analyzing Nirvana’s four and Misery Eight, we will illustrate what profound influence Buddhism’s view, everything is variable had made. And its influence on the writing of poems, especially Gongti poems.Chapter III began with Vimalakirti Sutra. Through analyzing the figure of Vimalakirti, we point out that intellectuals had a strong sense of identity on Vimalakirti. Analysis Vimalakirti Sutra’s influence on Gonti poems in both ideology and literature.Chanpter IV pointed that Buddhism had other influence on Gongti poems. Analyze mainly the phenomenon of monks writing erotic poems and erotic description in the Buddhist Scriptures. Intellectuals at that time contacted both of the two frequently, so they must be influenced by them. It was a evidence that erotic poems written by monks and erotic description in the Buddhist Scriptures stimulated Gongti poems to come into being.
