Since the appearance of Yu-faction documentary concept, the research on it is still a blank field. This article aims to fill the blank. The development of Yu-faction Documentary is inseparable from the rich history and culture of Chongqing which lasts for over3000years, especially the unique Ba culture and the support capital culture. This thesis presents the local culture by summarizing the rich regional culture with the representative work of Yu-faction documentary.The first chapter is the introduction part. Card the concept of "Yu-faction" from the three respects of Chongqing’s literature, drama of film and television and documentary film. According to the need of this thesis, define the concept of Yu-faction documentary and elaborate the author’s innovations in this research at the same time.Chapter two presents the cultural landscape of Chongqing by elaborating the regional culture of Chongqing, including the Ba culture, three Gorges culture, immigrant culture, support capital culture, diet and hot pot culture. The existence of above, produce the documentary films with the "mountain city" feature. Yu-faction documentary influenced by these kinds of culture exactly distinguishes from other factions of the documentary.The third chapter is the development of Yu-faction documentary. Dating from the documentary during the anti-Japanese War, the author reviews the pioneer days of Yu documentary (1980--1989) and the exploration period of Yu-faction documentary (1990--1996), presents development period of Yu documentary (1997--2011), describe the pedigree of Yu documentary by carding the development history of Yu-faction documentary. The focus of this chapter is to demonstrate the achievement in Yu documentary development period (1997--2011) and the subject turns after the repositioning of Chongqing TV. The fourth section is Chongqing’s local customs which focus on introducing the beauty, hot pot, tea and dragon dance in Chongqing.The fifth chapter is the reflection of Yu-faction Documentary development.
