Huangmei Opera originated in Huangmei tea-picking opera of Hubei Province isa kind of local operas in Anhui Province, which experienced four periods of theHuangmei tea-picking opera, Huangmei tone, Huangmei opera before and aftercultural revolution. After the5thHuangmei Opera Festival in2009, experts write thatHuangmei Opera with aesthetic characteristics of“feminine beauty” should be“centered by a young female character”,“hero of the play, however good, is alsodifficult to draw a large audience”,“unwise to layout a lot of plays for malecharacters”,“violation of the laws of art”. The main tone of Huangmei tea-pickingopera and Huangmei Opera before the Cultural Revolution were both tone of femaleand male.“The Goddess Marriage” not only have the female tone of seven fairies butalso the male tone of Dong Yong. Wang Shaofang, who plays a male character typesare equally famous as Yan Fengying of female role. Which indicate that comparedwith women, men also have their own uniqueness. However, for an extended periodof time, male tone in Huangmei Opera is feminized constantly. So someone in theview of aesthetics suggested that we should set aside the tradition of both feminineand masculine spirit to take the old road of Shaoxing Opera. Therefore, this articletakes the male tone in Huangmei Opera for the study, to illustrate that we shoulddevelop Huangmei Opera music equally of men and women by summarizing thefeatures of female and male tone and the artistic achievements of creation of maletone.
