Desire Narration In Modern Anxiety

As a contemporary writer, Luyao had a strong responsibility sense for an era and heunderstood the development trend of the current society very clearly. So Luyao activelyapprove the modern civilization from the enlightenment standpoint. However at the sametime, Luyao expressed his worries and doubts for modern civilization. We can see thespiritual dilemma in Luyao’s novel and the dilemma is full of his mental anxiety of themodernization. With the clue of “desire narration”, this paper analyses the contradictionsand divisions in the process that Luyao activated desires and suppressed desires to showthe spiritual dilemma by text reading.In this paper, the introduction part mainly introduces the present researches about thespiritual dilemma in Luyao’s novel and the writing cause. The main body includes threeparts. The first part introduces the theory of desire narration, the recounting of desirenarration in a new era as well as from Luyao creative process, outlines his desire narration.The second part explores Luyao’s desire narration strategy and interprets the spiritualdilemma in Luyao’s novel. The third part deeply explores the reasons of his spiritualdilemma by Luyao’s two identities: a young man in the urban-rural dual structure and areal writer in the turn of the age.With the development of rural society modernization, the spiritual dilemma inLuyao’s novel is what people have to face. But to Luyao, he took the responsibilities forera initiatively by his mental anxiety. So we can say the spiritual dilemma is his owninitiative choice.
