Traditional Chinese statues after development of the XIA, Shang and ZHOU, QIN, Han, Northern and Southern Dynasties period has appeared the first peak of Buddhist statues, Buddhist statues in this period has far-reaching implications on traditional Chinese art, until today’s society. Southern dynasty back-screen-like statues is skilled,and skill variety, has been developed to a mature stage, today in many areas inaccessible.This article from the point of view of sculptor,on the basis of visiting dozens of ancient cave temple and museum, combine usual practice of sculpture, in-depth study of southern dynasty from Chengdu, Sichuan Southern dynasty back-screen-like statues carving skills, I own has greatly benefited from it, and found a lot of not very interesting carving techniques and principles of sculpture. This article first combed out the origins of back-screen-like statues in the Southern dynasties, including the local artistic heritage and influence of foreign incoming Buddhist statues, sculpture art fused at home and abroad, thereby creating the southern back-screen-like the superb art of exotic flowers. Then I focus on writing the southern back-screen-like sculpture techniques, mainly addressed from three angles:the angle of the first party, the angle of the sculptor, and a modern perspective about it. Then I briefly introduced the influence of Southern dynasty back-screen-like statues in the southern dynasty and future influence of Chinese traditional arts.This article aims to introduce the southern back-screen-like carving skills, so that more people could understand the Chinese traditional sculpture art from the sculptor’s own point of view,learn traditional art for modern use and get fresh creative nutrition.
