Splicing techniques has both been applied in traditional and modern andcontemporary carvings. Splicing in traditional wood carving are more technical use;with the development of the arts, splicing used in contemporary wood carvings isbecoming more consciously and aesthetically. This paper attempts to comb andanalyze the three artists of using splicing element in woodcarving to clarify thedifference between the splicing of traditional and contemporary carvings, and thenexplore the reasons of expanding the use of traditional splicing techniques.
