Study On Carving Skills Of The Chinese Reborn Woodcut In The Period Of The Republic Of China(1931——1949)

The Chinese Reborn Woodcut Movement,which is a movement of print,was rising under the influence of western art concept in the period of the republic of China.It was completely different from the traditional print for the creative approach and art concept,had been used by social and political movements widely.It had been molding an unique artistic style in that period.Print making began in China,but the birth of modern print was influenced by modern aesthetics and the individualism of western art concept. The craft and procedure of print making are simplified as a behavior of "drawing,carving,printing"of one artist, but this predigestion has expanded artists' emotional expression and consciousness of creation.Modern print originated from traditional print for this predigestion,becoming an independent painting disciplines.As the medium of create by artists,modern print in essence develops and re-interpretates prints boldly. At the same time,this kind of interpretation also expands narrative language and creative approach.Lu xun was a direct advocate of The Chinese Reborn Woodcut Movement,he used the copy feature of print to achieve the aim which rescued China by art.And the movement of New Woodcut indeed played a good role in propaganda and enlightenment in the community during that time.Compare prints in that period with modern prints,the targets of creations and the objects of creations are quite different,but the concept of art and expression of individual are fully fit. The study of the craft and concept in the beginning period of modern prints in China is useful to the exploration of print creation.
