Ku Shu Lan drew a lot of attention from all aspects in the1980’s due to her myster ious experience after waking up from a coma caused by accidently falling off a cliff, a nd her creative paper-cutting prowess. However, it does not mean much if one only explores her mysterious experience and her habitual common sense, so where to fin d the breach? In the first half of20th century, French philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s research about the physical body and his theory on interest in the Arts, undo ubtedly gave us a theoretical basis. We can tell Maurice Merleau-Ponty has a very strong interest about Art, especially painting, from his article. However, there is no connection left between his philosop hy and Art after he changed focus to Ontology. So, the first question we are going to discuss is the possibility of Art under the Ontology vision. Based on this, we will disc uss the second question about research on Ku Shu Lan and her paper-cutting goddes s creations.
