Mining the critical Eastern religion and culture from Salinger’s novel image shape and contradictions of inheritance, let it work as well as the influence of Eastern religion in the works to a value judgment to see a more thorough understanding of Salinger and his themes.Salinger’s life experiences and fiction text, change the course of post-war era of social morality and human "self-change concerns the growth of their personal as well as the hero implied in varying degrees. In order to save the spiritual crisis of the West, to achieve self-salvation, he chose to Eastern religions, cultural resources, and hope that this idea can not only save the soul of modern man, and more expect to save to save the soul of the increasingly bankrupt society in order to achieve natural and human harmony. However, in the atmosphere of that time, this interpretation is still based on the West and its’image of China with its subjective Oriental imagination, description of the works reflect the identity crisis and cultural reflection, not oriental culture as settle down the basis.Salinger tried to through the absorption of Eastern religion and culture to rescue the crisis of the spirit of the West, perhaps the final result is not successful, but it is not in vain, and now contemporary society, mental anguish all mortal beings, still has far-reaching significance. The literary hermit escaped the mundane life and left behind too many mysteries to be solved, his works had a profound influence on the development of the later novels.
