In1929, Mu Shiying came for the first time into the field of literature, from the river novel "Exchange" to the short collection of "North Pole", which reflected his narrative and basic position for creating the Early Novels, namely:to imitate-or follow the examples of their predecessors (the Fourth of May Fiction), or follow the examples of their peers (Leftwing Novel).With the "Cemetery"(1933),"Platinum Statue of the Female Body"(1934) and other novels set in introduction, Mr. Mu entered into the golden age of his personal creation, from story forms to the structure methods, from characters to style, which accomplished a new complete change one by one. The narrative about urban written by Mr. Mu, which abandoned the Leftwing Novels’narrative of the position of class consciousness, he evermore focused on their individual emotion and psychological sense of the urban men and women, thereby obtained a pure, complete "urban" Feature. Comparing with the predecessors and peers, their novels’narrative pattern as "Cemetery", he indeed had broken narrow patterns of the "Fourth of May Fiction" and "Leftwing Novel", namely:he turned into concerning of individual life in the urban (including physical, spiritual), from contemplation for sociological aspects of urban life in the community, which revealed the great individual differences and multi-faceted of the spiritual life in the urban behind the material civilization. His concerns for urban civilization, the positive material and economic made up the blank in China’s urban narrative novels. His persistence in attempts and innovation for novel narrative structure, built a "spatial form" structure,"feel-psychological" structure, montage structure, reflecting his extraordinary ability in layout of the novel structure that broke and reformed the traditional novel mode of telling a tale of a single structure, which made a diversification for the modern novels in the structure styles. After1935, he plunged into the’Wasteland’of his novel creation, the novel narrative gradually failure, both in quality and quantity are far less than before. The narrative mode returned back to the creation of traditional realism, which digested his pioneer in urban narrative fiction.
