Xu Shi Jiaqi Research

Xu Shiqi is a prestigious writer who lived in the city of Yangzhou at the end of Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. He played an important role among Guangling poets. His name for the drama was known remotely. Almost everyone’s works in Yangzhou area is unparalleled with the amount of the abundance of Xu Shiqi’s. And Xu Shiqi’s achievement is so big that many people at that time even later generations praised highly. But unfortunately most of the documents were destroyed or lost, a few part of them were retained. Xu Shiqi was used to living at home and he didn’t like to attend literary activities. So Xu Shiqi was not received the attention by the later researchers. And much message about Xu Shiqi is ambiguous even fault because of the lack of research by the descendants. In view of this, I make deeply study on Xu Shiqi’s life, making friends and literary works in the basis of materials and other people’s research. I hope I could reveal the proper value of Xushi Qi in the literary history systematically and comprehensively.This article is divided into five parts, including an introduction and four chapters.The introduction part has outlined the research history and the present situation about Xu Shiqi, as well as the goal and the significance of my selected topic.The first chapter is a review of his family background and his life, dealing with some biographical facts of Xu Shiqi. In according to the correlation material, this chapter has outlined some message about Xu Shiqi’s family and the partial family members. Moreover, this chapter introduces Xu shiqi’s experiences in his life and other related things. And this chapter also makes a distinction with two Xu shiqi.The second chapter tells Xu Shiqi’s three behavior choice controlled by the Psychological state of an adherent of the Ming dynasty, including seclusion and not being a officer, being cautious of making friends and doing some writing. It demonstrated Xu Shiqi’s activities during this period. The chapter showed a good temperament and styles of doing things of Xu Shiqi.The third chapter is about Xu Shiqi’s Ci. I analyzed the ideological content and artistic characteristics. Ideological content includes Xu Shiqi’s anger and pain as an adherent of the Ming dynasty, the feeling during seclusion and by praising something. Artistic characteristics analyzed the relation of scene and feelings, the rhetoric of analogy, a lot of image, a simple language, a elegant style.The fourth chapter is about Xu Shiqi’s Sanqu. According to Xu Shiqi’s Sanqu and Yuan Dynasty Sanqu., I found Xu Shiqi’s Sanqu inherited many characteristics of Yuan Dynasty Sanqu. Some are even very similar. But in fact they are not the same. The chapter analyses these characteristics in accord of content and features.The last chapter is about Xu Shiqi’s drama. His drama gets highest achievement in his works. This chapter analyzes three aspects which are writing introduction, ideological content and artistic features. I talked about these so as to reflect Xu Shiqi’s literary value.
