From perspective of culture, China and South Korea are among the Confucian cultural background. They have a common cultural base and compatibility as a cultural system. Today, this kind of culture is deeply tooted in our life and polite language is one of the representatives of this culture. Polite language is a demanding way not only to improve the communication effect, but also to help strangers to interact with each other. It also contributes to regulating the relationships between people. Polite language is the embodiment of personality and the overall civilization quality. Polite language is good to the development of the national language.China and South Korea are worthy of the name "ceremonious Country". But different cultural values, customs, and concepts lead to the different usage of polite language. This article is based on the polite language. It first defines polite language and tells readers the importance of polite language, which helps readers know how to use polite language correctly in our daily life and get well along with each other. Then it discusses the differences and the similarities in polite language between Chinese and Korean by means of politeness principles and comparative analysis. From the perspective of the type of language and cross-culture, it analyzes reasons for the differences in expressions of the polite language. This will help us to understand the cultural differences, to reduce the cultural conflicts, and to enhance exchanges between China and Korea. Besides, it also can help us to find the right strategies to spread Chinese language and culture.
