“Wenli” is one phenomenon about the structure of the passage and the sequenceof the words in old works,it has been existing in the literature of ancient China formore than thousands of years. We can neither relegate this phenomenon to anycategory of our national language, nor take it as the general rule of our nationallanguage alone, it is a very special phenomenon. To analyze and to define this specialphenomenon have great significance for the study of “Xungu” in the new days, it willalso have the reference value for the syntax and rhetoric of ancient national language.Because of the reasons above, this paper will analyze the phenomenon of “Wenli” onthe basis of the scholars’ research in the successive dynasties, and the new results ofresearchers today.This paper study from five chapters:The first chapter is the first word of the book. It mainly tells the usage of “Wenli”and introduces the value and the effect of the book Examples of Doubtful Point in OldWorks. The most important work of “Xungu” is to explain and to analyze the wordsand sentences in old works, but without the knowledge of “Wenli”, the definiteexplaining will be understood in a wrong way.The second chapter is “Wenli” and itsideas. Discussing about that how the “Wenli” had come into being and how it haddeveloped from the stylistic rules and grammar, and then telling the meaning of the“Wenli”.The third chapter is the study of “Wenli”. Concluding and analyzing thespecial language phenomenon in the book. Each “Wenli’ has been studied in detailsand taken for example.The forth chapter is the utilizing of “Wenli” in the practice of“Xungu”. Give some examples to illustrate the importance of “Wenli” in explainingand rectifying old works. The fifth chapter is in a word. Sort out the thinking of thewriting, and the important direction of my study. Point out the harvest and the lack inmy study.
