Ganyu Dialect Vocabulary Study

This paper takes the vocabulary of Ganyu dialect as the research object. We choose the vocabulary representative of Ganyu dialect and frequently used as the research object of this paper,based on the glossary of " Ganyu Dialect Annals"(2001)and "Study on Ganyu Dialect"(2011). The unused, outdated vocabulary as well as those that are included in " Modern Chinese Dictionary" are excluded. In addition to this, the author has also added a number of dialect words to the vocabulary and compiled the Ganyu dialect glossary,on the basis of on-the-spot investigation.This paper mainly employs survey, description, analysis and comparison methods to reveal the characteristics of Ganyu dialect vocabulary.We try to reveal the characters and personalities of the vocabulary of Ganyu dialect in wordformation, sematics and grammar by comparing Ganyu dialect with Putonghua and analysing it.We further discussed the cultural implication in Ganyu dialect vocabulary and made a preliminary exploration of the folk culture in it, attempting to clarify the characteristics of Ganyu dialect vocabulary from internal and external dimensions.All the time since, dialect studies mainly focous on phonetics.In contrast to this, studies on dialect vocabulary are faily meager. On the study of Ganyu dialect vocabulary, what can be found are just sporadic articles which are not systematic.So far, no comprehensive and systematic researches on Ganyu dialect vocabulary have been found.The significance of this paper is to make us fully and deeply understand the vocabulary of Ganyu dialect, through the study of Ganyu dialect vocabulary and reveal its characteristics, with a view to providing lexical basis for Ganyu dialect’s belonging. At the same time, the research can make us familiar with the relationship between Ganyu dialect and surrounding dialects, providing us with reference and dialect corpus for the study of diachronic development of language,the exploration of local folk culture and the Inheritance of dialects.The paper except the preface and conclusion, divides into four chapters.The preface is just an outline of the paper. Firstly,we introduced the significance of the study and the situation of the researches which have been done on Ganyu dialect. Secondly, the study methods and research instructions were described.Finally we made an introduction of Ganyu’s geography and history, hoping to show that Ganyu dialect is a special dialect.In the first chapter,we analyzed and described the characteristics of the word formation and coinage of Ganyu dialect from the lexical perspective.We try to highlight the features of Ganyu dialect vocabulary by comparing Ganyu dialect with Mandarin,In the second chapter, we analyzed the semantic characteristics of Ganyu dialect vocabulary,mainly discussing its conceptional meaning, pracmatic meaning, and grammatical meaning.In the third chapter we analyzed and described the grammatical features of Ganyu dialect, focousing on the aspects of affixes, overlapping forms, characteristic pronouns, characteristic quantifiers and characteristic adverbs, which enables us to have a clear understanding of Ganyu dialect vocabulary.In the fourth chapter,the folk culture in Ganyu dialect vocabulary was explored.We made a detailed description and a rough study of the vocabulary on marriage, funeral, working and living,which enables us to have a deep understanding of the dialect vocabulary from multiple aspects and angles.The conclusion is a summary of the paper, including the flaw,the insufficiency and the research prospect.
