From The Photos To The Symbols

The subject of this thesis is focused on the construction and changes of the image of Lei Feng, By analyzing different photos before his death and head portraits after that, this thesis showed the development of Lei Feng’s image, and then discussed the reasons of the course of continuing constructing and symbolizing, in this way, the author also wanted to understand the multicultural phenomenon of contemporary china from another point of view.This Thesis consists of four chapters. First chapter, by surveying photos before his death, this part traced the antitype of Lei Feng’s image; The second chapter, by analyzing different historical reasons of why lei Feng become the National Model Worker, this part analyzed different truths of life and history behind the image; The third chapter concerned the change of official publicity:from Lei Feng as a person to Lei Feng spirit, discussed the course of image construction, as well as the symbol meanings of the classical image: head portraits of Lei Feng; The last part summarized the reasons of the continuing constructing and symbolizing of Lei Feng’s image.
