Dalian Places Of Social Linguistics Research

Geographic names as an important social and cultural phenomenon, is inextricably linkedwith all aspects of political, economic, cultural and so on. This article analysed the geographicnames of Dalian from the sociolinguistic perspective. It has important values for the culture andlanguage.Village-level administrative in Dalian city have more than a total of1722names. In thisarticle, we took these geographic names as research objects. Through massive field investigationto these geographic names in Dalian, and according to Dalian city’s Chronicles, Yearbook, placenames records and related data, this article revealed the characteristics of place names and therelations between the social culture and geographic names.The article mainly consists of three parts.The first part is the basic structure of the place names in Dalian, including syllables andwords constitute about Dalian place names. The second part reveals characteristics of Dalianplace names. The third part is divided into two chapters, discussed the relationship betweenDalian place names and the social culture which the social culture includes geographical features,immigrant culture, religion culture, military activities, economic activities, national culture,political changes and so on.
