The Discourse Of Chinese Emotional Metaphor Study

Metaphor involves the field of subject is no longer limited to linguistics, but alsoinvolved subjects such as psychology, sociology since the20century. Especially inthe field of cognitive linguistics, metaphor becomes a focus of research. As alinguistic phenomenon, metaphor not only a rhetorical way, but also a cognitive waywhich could build the organizational foundation for human concept system. It meansthe human concept, thinking and act is metaphorical.Emotion as a abstract concept, it is difficult to express according to thecharacteristic of human language, and the inner emotions are close to humancognitive. So it needs metaphorical way to express the inner emotions. How to makehuman emotion together with objective things for achieving the effect of expressionaccording to the characteristic of human experience, becomes a key of emotionalmetaphor study. Therefore, I selected four emotions: happiness, angry, sadness andfear as the research object, which explores the type of emotional metaphor, workingmechanism and expressive function.This article is divided into five parts. Introduction part outlines the relevantresearch, the purpose of the study, and corpus collection methods. In the first chapter,the author clearly define emotional words and describes conceptual metaphorproposed Lakoff, make sure the theoretical basis of the paper. In the second chapter,I classified the emotional metaphor on the base of conceptual metaphor theory andconceptual integration theory, it evolves ontological metaphor, synaesthesia metaphorand orientation metaphor, trying to analyzed the metaphorical phenomenon. Inchapter three, I describes emotional words working mechanism, which explores threeexcepts: the operation of the inner power, the formed foundation, and the way ofoperation. In the forth chapter is the last chapter, I try to describe the function ofmetaphor about the emotional expression.
