After the World War II, the balance between great powers had been broken. Americahas benefit from the situation that time. Under the domination of America, theinternational economic system has been established which included internationalfinance as well as international trade. This thesis mainly introduces the process of theestablishment and several international economic crises including1960s-1970s’Dollar Crisis, the1990s’ Asian Financial Crisis and the Subprime Crisis of2008. Thenthis thesis summarizes the primal problems of the existing international economicsystem. Meanwhile, the thesis takes International Monetary Fund as an example todeeply analyze the how to reform the existing economic system to cope with theexisting problems. And the analyzation consists of three aspects, the system level, theinstitution level and the mechanism level. Besides, the thesis demonstrates the reformwill have adverse impact on the dominant role of America in the world economy aswell as weakening the leading political position of America in the internationalcommunity. However, no matter what kind of influence on America the reform canlead to, the reform of this existing international economic system is imperative undersuch a circumstance of globalization.
