This paper compares, historically and currently, the economic system reform of Chinaand Russia, analyzes their general and specific characteristics and Points out we must con-tinue inshtutional inovation. Four Parts have been focused upon in this paper.The first part analyzes the initinal starting conditions of the economic system reform ofChina and Russia, which includes the Political and economical environment, home andabroad, and the two country's special historic and cultural traditions.The second part compares the differences between the two modes Of transitions in de-tail.The third part argues the economic Performance and social effects of two different tran-sitions, and analyzes the reasons of it.The last Part provides the author's reflections on the economic system reform of Chinaand Russia.At first, this Part generally summarizes the difficulties faced with China and Russia intheir economic reform and points out that the distinction between resolving the short - termeconomic symptoms and changing the internal economic - runned mechanisms is the premiseof taking which way and it is the key to economic problems.Secondly, we must draw lessons and experience from the economic reform in Russia,stick to innovation on systems gradually and deeply. Especially, during the special Period ofthe transformation Of economy. However, only there are breakthroughs in the reforms of thegovernmental constitution, finance system and possession system and so on can our economicdevelopment be advanced into a good cycle.
