The Related Social Factors Of Air-force Soldiers’ Mental Health

As the major part of military group, the level of soldiers’ mental health ishighly related to the safety and stability of troop, and then influences thecombat capability of troop directly. Previous studies on the mental health ofsoldiers mainly focused on the description and analyzing the symptoms fromthe perspective of clinical medicine view. Besides, previous reportsconcerning the relative factors of mental health focused on copying style,personality trait, etc. However, few studies paid attention to social-relatedfactors. Based on the mental health questionnaire, life satisfaction inventory,social warning inventory and social cooperation inventory, which are designedby Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Science, the current studydeeply explores the related social factors of air-force soldiers’ mental health.The main content and procedure are as follows:1. Set the research idea, methods and procedure of the study based onliterature searching, field investigation and consultation of experts; 2. Revise the mental health questionnaire and test its reliability andvalidity;3. Collect data from selected air-force troops;4. Analyze the data and study the related social factors to mental healthof air-force soldiers.The main findings of this research are as follows:1. The reliability and validity of mental health questionnaire is acceptableand can be widely used in Chinese troops;2. In general, air-force soldiers prefer positive coping style when theywere faced unfair social events. Moreover, under the social dilemma situation,they behaved credulously and cooperatively;3. Soldiers with high level mental health tend to take positive copingstyle when treated unfairly and their life satisfaction is also relatively high. Inthe face of social dilemmas such as the allocation of funds, lending money toothers, they tend to be credulous and cooperative;4. Life satisfaction and social warning behavior have important impact onmental health.
