Marxist Theory Of Human’s All-round Development And The Overall Development Education Of College Studens

The overall development of mankind is the ever lasting endeavor of human beings and its realization is fundamentally based on education. The comprehensive development of college students is the demand of times and a big challenge facing higher education.In this paper, the Marxist theory on man’s all-round development is reviewed, its guiding significance on the comprehensive development of college students is researched, and the new approaches for the promotion of their all-round development is explored.This paper concludes four parts.The first part is the brief introduction of this paper, indicating the purpose and the possible significance of this research.The second part mainly illustrates the main idea of the comprehensive development theory of Marxism, which went through a process of germination, emergence, development, gradually deepening and eventual formation in "Das Kapital" and includes the comprehensive development of human needs, human capacity, human social relations, human activity and human personality. Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao-our four generations of party leaders, combined the Marxist theory with the social practice in China and enriched and developed Marxist ideas on man’s overall development in their historical period. Mao Zedong regarded the man’s overall development as the pointer of education and put forward the target for the cultivation of new personality of the times in terms of moral, intellectual and fitness level. Deng Xiaoping, taking the liberation and development of productive forces as a precondition, advocated the construction of socialist material and spiritual civilization and proposed the goal of cultivating new generation of people with lofty ideals, moral integrity, good education and a strong sense of discipline. Jiang Zemin proposed a new connotation of the all-round development of man in the development of socialist practice by pointing out that people’s overall development are essential requirement of a new socialist society and should be unified with the economic development. Hu Jintao put forward the scientific concept of development with the idea of "People-oriented" as its center, targeting at achieving the comprehensive development of people.In the third part, the connotation, characteristics, and objectives of the college students’all-round development education are explored under the guidance of Marxist theory of human’s all-round development. Firstly, based on the background characteristic, it is emphasized that the college students’ all-round development education is the necessity of times development and social progress; secondly, it is elaborated that the goal of college students’ all-round development is to achieve their full and coordinated development in five aspects of knowledge, capacity, quality, social relations and personality; finally, it is indicated that the purpose of college students’all-round development is to improve the overall quality of the people and train them to be capable people for the social development, based on the conception that as the foundation for the students’future development and lifelong learning, college education should not be either the elite education and selection education, or the examination based education and vocational education.The forth part is the focal point of this paper. Here, possible approaches to the realization of college students’overall development are explored with a view from five different aspects combining the analyses of the status and problems existing in the higher education. Specifically, virtuous education is the essential cornerstone; physical and psychological health education the support; humanities education the key point, innovation and practice education the elevating goal, and optimized environment the effective guarantee of college students’all-round development.The practice of the all-round development education of college students is a significant project. This paper, getting the guidance by reviewing the Marxist theory of man’s overall development, aims at exploring the possible efficient approaches for the practice of the all-round development education of college students.
