The War of1812, an important event in early American history, had a broadimpact on American politics and economy at that time, especially in terms ofearly partisan struggles in the United States. The War of1812, as well as theother important events such as the French Revolution, Treaty of Jay,.etc.,became an important focus of the early party argument. No matter the issue ofdeclarition the war with Britain, the military issues, such as the Federal army, the tariff policy, territorial expansion and the Treaty of Ghent, were the focus ofdebate between the Federal Party and the Democratic Republican Party. Most ofthe Democratic-Republicans insisted that they should declare to fire Britain, notto recruit sodigers and raise navy, but to increase tariff, expand territory, agree onTreaty of Ghent, while the Federalists held opposite opinion. The argument on the War of1812between the two parties revealed that thetwo parties’foreign policy has little difference, not only inherited traditionalexceptism foreign relations concept just after establishing the States inevitably, but also show the distinctive characteristics obviously, the politicalindependence but economic pro-British turned to the political independence andeconomic freedom. The clear-cut and unremitting controversy between the twoparties for several years led to the decline of the Federalist Party and thecontinuous rule of the Democratic Republican Party eventually, the UnitedStates enter a brief “one-party rule” period, the first political party systemtransited to the second party system gradually, American foreign policy alsomade a significant adjustment.
