Marx's Social Conflict Theory And Its Significance For The Construction Of A Harmonious Socialist Society

At present, China has been going through a critical period of social transformation, undergoing radical changes in economic and social development, which gives rise to simultaneous exposure of massive social contradiction. How to perceive multifarious phenomenon of social conflicts in the context of building a harmonious society, and correspondingly consult to Marxist theory on social conflicts so as to capitalize on the trend of benign orbit of building harmonious society? The answer to these questions not only reflects theoretic value of Marxist theory on social conflicts, but also reveals practical significance of resolving conflicts and materializing harmonious society during the important period of strategic opportunities.The study on social conflicts, within academic fields of philosophy, politics, sociology or Marxism, provides theoretic basis for scholars to probe into social changes and social progress. It’s acknowledged by scholars of other disciplines that Marxist theory on social conflicts pioneered and initiated the study of social conflicts. However, the theory of social conflicts prevails in other disciplines rather than Marxism. It’s widely discussed and concerned by sociologists, being a heated and continued focus of academic research. As for academia of Marxist theory, owing to misunderstanding and distortion of the theory for a long time, the study of social conflicts is greatly deficient compared with other theories of Marxism. As a vibrant theoretical source, the reform of bottom of the theory not only contributes to better understanding and utilization, but provides revelatory ideas and routes for perceiving and resolving contemporary social conflicts.This paper first discussed basic connotation of social conflicts, then briefly introduced the main body, causes, forms, functions of social conflicts, and elaborated the theory of social conflict both in the academia of sociology and Marxism. Under the guidance of Marxist theory on social conflicts, this paper adopted empirical research on the status quo of social conflicts from the perspectives of economy, politics, culture, and society, and then specifically analyzed a few of far-reaching phenomenon of social conflicts. Finally, on the basis of the revelation of Marxist theory on social conflicts, this paper attempted to supply solutions to resolve social conflicts and build a harmonious society.
