Yang Zhihua (1901-1973), born in Xiaoshan, Zhejiang, is a female communist. She is the pioneer of Chinese modern women’s movement, the third vice president of ACWF(All-China Women’s Federation).After the founding of PR China, she served as party member of ACWF and all-china federation of trade unions, minister of international department, minster of female worker department, member of the control commission of the CPC central committee as well as alternate member of standing committee.Yang Zhihua is one of the early practitioners of Chinese female campaign. During the long term female campaign, she combined Marxist feminist theory with the actual condition of Chinese female campaign to form her own female liberation theory. She is also among the pioneers working for workwoman after the foundation of PR China.There are four parts in this article. The first part states Theoretical sources of Yang’s female liberation theory. The second part states the process of development of Yang’s theory. The third part talks about its main points:The prime aim for female liberation, which stands on the equality of political right of female workers, is to seek the liberation of the country as well as its people. Liberation is achieved through the propaganda and organization of female workers, who are the main force in the movement. It is also suggested by her that a united front of female liberation should be founded. The final part analyzes the meaning of her theory theoretically and its impact on modern society. Yang’s theory is still playing an important role in guiding the female workers. A further study should be made to provide methods for current female movements.
