It is a maturing and improving period of Liang Ch’i-ch’ao`s legal thoughts from1989to1912. During this period, he studied Chinese traditional legal system, putforward a complete “gregarious–right” thought and he also made a full range ofconstitutional claims just before he returned to China.All these thoughts and theories constitute the main content of Liang Ch’i-ch’ao`slegal thoughts during exile in Japan.This paper studies Liang Ch’i-ch’ao`s legalthoughts during exile in Japan in five parts, in order to arrange and further research histheories. The first four parts are:“gregarious&rights thought”,“on Chinesetraditional legal system”,“constitutional thoughts” and “explorations of Chinese stateinstitution”. The last part of this paper analyse the characters and influences of LiangCh’i-ch’ao`s legal thoughts during exile in Japan.
