Liang Shu-ming China's Constitutionalism Thought Research

Liang Shuming, as the leader of Chinese New Confucianism, the famous social activist and the modern Chinese famous members of the democratic parties is an upright person with wide range of knowledge. He devotes his life to Chinese culture research and analysis. Meantime, in many of his works, there is the unique understanding about the construction of the civilization of Constitutionalism in China. As the important branch of Liang Shuming’s academic theories-Chinese constitutional thought, occupies an important position in his academic system, which comprehensive displays the profound knowledge and penetrating insight of Liang Shuming about the construction of the constitutional civilization in China. In the system, he has a precise and appropriate analysis about the old Chinese special political and social structure and also has sustained attention on the traditional cultural of old China. This is not only the main part in his academic theory, but the main section of Liang Shuming’s Chinese constitutional thought.This report based on the reasonable generalization and abstraction of Liang Shuming’s Chinese constitutionalism thought, attempts to point out the deficiencies through the investigation of his constitutional thought, with the combination of the theoretical results from academia about law of history of the western constitutionalism movement. On one hand, we should have historical and reasonable estimation about the frustration of Chinese constitutional construction; on the other hand, we should also find the flash points of Liang Shuming’s Chinese constitutionalism thought, especially mining those theoretical crystallizations which have important guiding significance to the current Chinese constitutional construction.
