As China’s economy continues integrating into the world economy, the research on competitiveness has attracted wider attention in the circles of our government and industry as well as in the academia. Competition as an important clue runs through Marx’s value theory and the theory of surplus value. Competition is an important domain in the theories of Economics; it exists in the combat of two sides and comes alive whenever two or more parties are trying to have access to the resources that are not available to both or all of them.Based on intrinsic unity and mutual contradictoriness between productivity and production relations, Marx discussed and analyzed the issue of competition in his economic theory, resulting in rich contents of his theory on competition. Marx’s economic theory not only reveals the special law of the capitalist production mode, but also a large number of general rules of commodity economy or market economy in the human society. Then, it is an important task of scientific research to explore and research the contemporary significance of the foresaid theory.With the guideline of Marx’s related theory on competition and the reference of the western economists’theory on information and enterprise competitiveness, this paper has reviewed the classical economists’and Engels’s contribution on market competition theory; then, this paper has sorted out and made comments on the main points of Marx’s market competition theory; after that, several fundamental principles representing the general rules of socialized mass production and market economy are deducted from Marx’s theory on economic competition. Based on the analysis on the current development situation of China’s economic competitiveness, this paper elaborates the instructive significance of Marx’s economic competition theory for China’s participation in international competition in the circumstance of economic globalization. Under the guideline of Marxist economics’ stands and positions, China should actively respond to the international competition under economic globalization by developing the competitively advanced industries with concentrated resources, greatly promoting the technology education, maintaining and strengthening the economic security and economic sovereignty, and advancing the opening up policy,...
