America, as the new international force in the early19th century, although its strength was not strong, Americans also embark on the journey of territorial expansion, through which they could expand their own "backyard" to get rid of the shadow of Europe bound. From the beginning of the19th century, the founding ancestors of the United States had been paying more attention on Cuba, which was called "the pearl of the Caribbean".Therefore, the plan of allowing Cuba to be incorporated into the Federal never stopped. In the1820s, accompanied by the decline of the Spanish Empire, the problem of Cuba had upgraded. Simultaneously, fierce competition between the United and Britain appeared. Taking into account the problems of their own strength, the Secretary of State John Quincy Adams seized the opportunity to propose the famous policy "ripe-fruit", which became the guidance of U.S. policy toward Cuba throughout the19th century."Ripe-fruit Policy" was also an indispensable part of U.S.foreign policy towards the Latin American, and it had had a profound impact on the future diplomacy of America."Ripe-fruit Policy" appears to be in order to maintain the friendly between the United States and Spain, but it essentially reflects the expansionism of John Quincy Adams, it has played an important role in continental expansion thoughts and laid the cornerstone of U.S.foreign policy.
