Since1840, China has gradually been incorporated into the Western capitalistworld system. Chinese revolution is no longer an isolated domestic incident, butclosely been linked to the development trend, the right pattern and the benefitsdistribution of the whole world. Rooted in traditional political ideology and culturesoil of China, the idea of world revolution of China in Mao era is not only derivedfrom “At the Same Revolution Theory” of Max an Engels but also deeply beenimpacted by the Soviet Union and the Comintern. It has undergone a process fromthe formation and development to radical evolution and gradual adjustment.Chinese Communist Party is a branch of the Comintern from its birth. After thefounding of new China, Chinese communists clarified: Chinese revolution is the partof world revolution of the proletarian socialist. They accepted the analysis aboutimperialism and national question posed by Max and Engels. And they judged theworld situation scientifically, that is “the revolution and the war” is the theme of theera of imperialism and proletarian revolutionary. In the two camps of capitalism andsocialism, the America not only blockaded and sieged socialist countries but alsointerfered and suppressed other countries’ revolution. So it is the key enemy of worldpeople. On the contrary, the Soviet Union recognized the new China and assistedChinese revolution enthusiastically. The Soviet Union is the staunch supporter andally of China. After the successful revolution, China began to pay attention to and support revolutionary movements of neighboring countries. The most obviousmanifestation of this is the Korean War and Vietnam War against France. In Mao’opinion “that is our internationalist duty”.After the min-50’, the world balance of power has changed a lot. The strengthof Socialism accounted for the overwhelming superiority of the strength ofimperialism. In such situation, Soviet Communist Party held the twentieth nationalcongress, proposed the concept of peaceful evolution and détente with the UnitedStates vigorously. These practices led to differences between the two parties ofSino-Soviet. In the end revolutionism conquered over peaceful evolution. Chinesebelieves that the Soviet Union has become the de facto social imperialism and it cannot continue to lead international communist movement. As a result, the center ofworld revolution had in fact transferred to China. In this period, China intensified theconcept of world revolution. China believes that the war will occur, so it support forworld revolution generously. The strategy that make other countries stop the warthrough revolution become China’ leading foreign policy. As the internationalsituation changes, China has begun to amend the idea of “world revolution” in the70s.Chines leaders have adjusted the goal of world revolution, not stressed whether itis socialism or not, but stressed freedom from imperialist control and fighting for truenational independence and liberation. Further more, they proposed the “three worlds”theory. China continued to implement world revolution, but they paid more attention to national interests. The most obvious manifestation is to improve relations with theUnited States. In Mao era, the ideal of world revolution and the national interest has in theconfluence of contradictions. However, in most cases, both are equally important anduniformed. The idea of world revolution influences Chinese policy makes on thebasic decision about national interest. But it serves the interests of the countryultimately. Although the idea of world revolution in Mao Era has undeniablelimitations, it also produced some positive impact for Chinese diplomacy. There isnecessary for us to make a correct understanding of the role of the idea of worldrevolution. For that has the significance of theory and practice for to make acomprehensive understanding of thinking itself and get a through observation ofchanges in New China’ diplomatic strategy.
