The Study Of Zengzi’s Conception Of Filial Piety And Its Practical Value

The Filial thought is an important content of ethical thinking in the traditional culture,filial piety education is the fundation of the moral constrution, is an important aspectof theideological and political education, is also a fundamental part of the ideological and politicaleducation. Zengzi’s filial piety inheritd anddeveloped chinese traditional filial piety, having avery important role in the developing process of confucianism filial piety. Zengzi, as abackward disciple of Confucius, although,”cen is also” but he can not onlyfaithfully inheritthe of Confucius, but he also can expand the influence of confucianism through the accountsand apprentices, writing books to disseminate, so he can became one of the most famousdisciple of confucius seventy-two. Zengzi’s greatest achievement is having inherited anddeveloped the Confuciun filial piety, practiced filial piety and then became a master of filialpietytheory of ancient China during pre-qin dynasty, created the chinese filial piety, isnamed”zongsheng”. Zengzi view of falial piety not only profound the chinese feudalistsocietfor more than two thousand years, but has its practical value on contemporary society, canenlightenthe contemporary filial piety education.In recent years, there are some studies about Zengzi, but the researches are not thorough,comprehensive;abroad, there are also some studies on filial piety, but only on the confucianfilial piety of confucius, little on Zengzi.This research based on the native and abroadachievements, through thefilial piety of Zengzi, in order to explore the enligntenment to thecontemprary education.The paper is divided into three parts to discuss Zengzi’s filial piety.First, focus on the main content of Zengzi’s view of filial piety. The content are mainlydiscussed from four aspects: filial piety is the natural instinct of human’s innate feelings,rather than responsibilities and obligations imposed by outside; filial piety is a universisalnorm, it exists everytime and everywhere, it is inclusive, it is the adjustment law for humansociety and nature; micro-remonstrance is the basic requirement of filial piety, if parents arewrong, they should micro remonstrant and do their best to make up for parents’s fault; filialpirty are different, depond on the person’s identity, status, abilities and other objective and subjective factors. The characteristics of Zengzi’s filial piety are compared by Confucius fromfour aspects; filial piety needs to avoid body from harm, body is the capital of filial piety,weneed to avoidit from harm.Second， Zengzi’s view of filial piety has high histarical value, Zengzi’s filial pietyinherit from Confucius but also have a development, and opened later SiMeng faction,Zengzi’s filial piety did ont play an important role on the chaos at that time but producedimportant and far-reaching impact on the later especially in Han Dynasty.Finally, Zengzi’s filial piety has certain practical value, dicussed from five aspects:realize the importance of filial piety, filial piety is the foudation of morality,is the base of allmoral, is the basic content of ideological and political education, is also conducive to familyharmony and social harmony, improve the consciousness of filial piety, filial piety is a naturalattribute, so the children should consciously practice filial piety, practice of filial piety, payattention to the practice of filial piety, filial piety is not used to be talked, but is used to bedone; respect the difference of filial piety, filial piety based on the person’s identity, status andother factors, there are differences, we must respect this diversity; cherish the only life, thelife or physical is the fundamental to life piety, no life no filial piety.
