Research On Problems And Strategies Of Fund Raising For NGO Of China

Non-government Organization (NGO) is playing a more and more important role in the social and economic life after the1980s. It bears a great social responsibility, and it is playing an increasingly important role in philanthropy, environmental protection and many other fields. But now many NGOs are facing the problem of lack of fund, whether there is sufficient operating capital is a key for the organization to survival and develop. So it is important to study the problem of fund raising for NGOs.Firstly, this paper summarizes the present status of research on the issue of funding of NGOs both in China and abroad by carding relevant literatures. Secondly, this paper explains the relevant basic concepts and theories, including the definition and function of NGO, funding-related concepts and the theoretical basis of NGO rise and development. Then this paper describes the basic characteristics of NGO of China, analyzes the funding environment, and emphasizes the plight of NGO funding.In order to solve the funding difficulties faced by our NGOs, this paper introduces the foreign NGO’s advanced experience in fund-raising, focusing on analysis of the U.S. NGO’s funding model. Based on the foreign advanced experience, this paper provides strategies to solve the plight of the funding difficulties of NGO by combining the characteristics of our NGOs. It could take actions from the following two ways. One is the internal channels: establishing and improving the council system; managing information resources; keeping innovation. Another is external means:handling of the relationships between NGO and government, for-profit enterprises and public properly.
