The paper applying standpoint, viewpoint and method of Marxism, referring Hu Jintao’s major reviews and discourse towards our country’s publicity work in light of the new situation, comprehensively and systematically probes the Hu Jintao’s outlook of Chinese characteristic publicity or Hu Jintao’s basic views about the basic problem of Chinese characteristic publicity work.The paper falls into two parts excluding the preface, and main body.The preface is mainly resisting about the research meaning, the method and the innovation on this topicThe first chapter expounds the role and fundamental principle of Chinese characteristic publicity work and Hu Jintao’s major reviews about it. Hu Jintao thinks that Chinese characteristic publicity work has special influence for the society’s life of the mind and idea. Publicity work is the problem having a close bearing on the overall interests of Party and state’s works, reform and economic growth and long-term peace and order in the country. Hu Jintao thinks in publicity work, the press must adhere to the principle of keeping the Party spirit:adhere to Chinese characteristic Marxism ideologically, properly propaganda the programmer, the line,the general and specific policies of Communist Party of China politically, uphold and Party leadership organizationally. Hu Jintao has stated clearly that publicity work should insist the principle of people-oriented and make continuously accomplishing, safeguarding and developing the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the people as the starting point and standing point of publicity work. It is not only inheritance of Marxist publicity theory, but also the innovation of our Party’s guidelines for publicity work.The second chapter expounds the essence of Chinese characteristic publicity work., and refer to Hu Jintao’s opinion about it. Hu Jintao thinks the body of Chinese characteristic publicity work is people:Chinese characteristic publicity work is not only the career of Party, but also the career of people and it belongs to the people, serves the people and relies on the support of the people. As the result of it, publicity work should respect the people’s status and the right to know, to participate, to express and to supervise. Hu Jintao thinks the foundation of Chinese characteristic publicity work is people:people’s interest decide the content and form of Chinese characteristic publicity work. People’s practice of accomplishing their own interests is the source of Chinese characteristic publicity work; the success of Chinese characteristic publicity work is measured by the lever of people’s accomplishment for their own interests. As the result of it, publicity work should begin with practice, really safeguard the people’s interests and cater to popular taste of people. Hu Jintao thinks the purpose of Chinese characteristic publicity work is people:publicity work should insist the principle of people-oriented—make continuously accomplishing, safeguarding and developing the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the people as the starting point and standing point of publicity work. As the result of it, we should give full play to the role of media guidance and respect dignity and worth of the individual; we should gain further insight into people’s true desires and requirements in the process of publicity work and make people’s opinion as primary signal.The third chapter expounds the method of Chinese characteristic publicity work and refers to Hu Jintao’s opinion about it. Hu Jintao thinks that we should respect the objective laws of publicity work, in the first place; adhere to the principle of adherence to reality, adherence to living and adherence to the masses, in the second; further strengthen Party leadership for the publicity work and construct qualified publicity team, in the third; strengthen the construction of mainstream and new media at last.The fourth chapter discusses the feature of Hu Jintao’s opinion about publicity:It reflects the principle of people-oriented, it is the inheritance and innovation of Marxist publicity theory and it is also the concentrated reflection of scientific thought of development in the publicity area.
