"The Arab Spring" In The Political Modernization Perspective

Since the outbreak of the "Jasmine Revolution" in Tunisia on December17,2010, the issue that people’s livelihood problem was lack of reasonable settlement from government in West Asian and North African countries, caused the long-standing grudges of public. People’s voice of overthrow of dictatorship and establishment of a democratic regime had spread from North Africa to the entire Middle East region. Western media called this political turmoil "The Arab Spring" This incident caused regime changes in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen, brought political influence to Algeria, Bahrain Shikoku, Syria, Lebanon and other countries in different levels; and changed the political landscape of the Middle East even international world as well.It can be seen that, this political earthquake caused by livelihood issue shows that the politic identity of West Asia and North Africa people on the dictators had fallen to historic lows, and people already have no hope to the authoritarian regimes that had existed in the country for decades and was trying to sustain by patrimonialism. This undoubtedly was powerful evidence of the modern political values of the people in the region. In addition, internet, other emerging media, information flow and system exchange prompted ultimate success of the political change. It can be said that this incident is a typical example of political modernization field in modern world. Wherefore, I explained the reasons, characters, prospects of the "Arab Spring" in theoretical perspectives of political modernization. There is no doubt that it will enrich the political modernization theory, and provide the template of political reform for other countries.
