Same-sex marriage in the United States always exist as a controversial object for the past decades and will still be in the nearly future, the whole history of it can be concluded as homosexuals fight for their rights from ask not been discriminated by social bias to struggle for equal human rights such as legal recognition and marriage. After The Anti-culture movement of American Youth in1960s, the gay rights movement transform from one limited to a small number of activities into a broad protest for equal rights and acceptance in the Stonewall Riots1969."Queer theory"—a term whose emergence is typically attributed to Teresa La Lauretis (a feminist and a professor in NCLA)—came into currency in the early1990s, which firstly built based on diverse theories related homosexuality, however, independent from it and generated a elaborated theoretical framework, demands a wide range studying of potentially interrelated factors as class, gender, race, or ethnicity belong to social and cultural understanding. In the last two decades, the United States has been a dramatic shift in the legal recognition of same-sex couples, since1997, many states have granted some form of state-wide recognition to same-sex couples. Till now, Massachusetts and other eight states and District of Columbia allow same-sex couples full access to marriage. Today, nearly a quarter of the U.S. population lives in a state with some form of legal recognition for same-sex couples.Opening up marriage to same-sex couples is just the latest step toward renewing marriage’s continuing relevance in the twenty-first century. Obviously it is far too early to get a conclusion towards same-sex marriage since it will take time for us to get feedback or the evidence which shows signs.
