Started from January of2000, Chinese government sent the first UN Police contingent to UN Peace-keeping mission in East Timor, Chinese UNPOL have experienced the phase of grow vey fast in number for the past13years. But, Chinese UNPOL reach the goal of "grows-up" in deed need more journey. This paper take the UNMISS(UN Mission in the South Sudan) as example, sort out the development of Chinese UNPOL participating in UN Peace-keeping missions, to analyze the unfavorable factors of the Chinese UNPOL’ development, and propose the way to deal with the situation.This paper has four sections as below:The first section, focus on the history the Chinese UNPOL participating in UN Peace-keeping missions. Includes overview the background of China&Chinese police; the duty and responsibility of UN police; and the four processes of UN police.The second section, taking the UNMISS as example, sort out the operational mechanism of UN Police, as well as the challenge for the Chinese UNPOL, as to explicate the importance for the Chinese UNPOL participating in UN Peace-keeping missions.The third section, summarize the problem affecting the development of the Chinese UNPOL, such as lack of domestic laws, lower Decision-making in the field, more risk in mission life, less theoretical research, and Management mechanism not functional.The fourth section, sum up this paper, as to bring forward the suggestion against the problem affecting the development of the Chinese UNPOL. Such as project planning and strategy research, more participating in quantity as well as level, and enhance the training and exchange program for the Chinese UNPOL.Studying the practice of the Chinese UNPOL, would benefit to improve their capacity while in mission. Moreover, it should be good to enhance the quantity of Chinese Police, and affect the participating process of cross-country actions and protect Chinese overseas profits.
