Main-Theme TV and Cinematic Works, as one of the cultural means to popularizethe mainstream ideology, convey high level of sense of responsibility and mission tothe audience and have distinct political and ideological content. The noble mentalcontent and beautiful emotions and lofty ideals embody outstanding artistry. Main-Theme TV and Cinematic Works, as a unique type of works bringing together politicalcontent and artistry, is equipped with a great platform for broadcasting and is highlysuitable for appreciation. Throughout several decades’ improvement, Main-Theme TVand Cinematic Works have come to convey to the audience a spirit of highly combinedsense of history and values, inheritance and innovation, temporal and national quality.Whether their political or ideological contents, their contents or forms, both serve thesocialist spiritual civilization construction and serve the great public, and they are oneof the basic approaches to present construction of the Party and to ideological andpolitical education.The issue of college students’ ideological and political education is highlyimportant, for it influences the social development and construction of our country.Paying more attention to college students’ ideological and political education has beenone tradition of strategic significance with our Party and country. Realizing the utilityof college students’ ideological and political education will benefit the smooth runningof all the colleges, will benefit the cultivation of the constructors and inheritors of oursocialist modernization and will, even more so, benefit the socialist spiritualcivilization construction.But it is regrettable that we often neglect the teaching methods of teaching plusplaying and influencing subtly, due to the impact of traditional college students’ideological and political education methods, which stresses the goal and intention ofthe teachers, single and pure cramming and simple preaching. This gives rise tophenomena such as the lagging of college students’ ideological and political education behind the time, the singularity of the educational forms, the lack of attraction andweak practical effects. This means colleges students tend to reject and do perfunctorilywhen facing ideological and political education. These phenomena are threateningseriously the smooth and effective deployment of college students’ ideological andpolitical education. They not only pose great challenges to college students’ideological and political education, but also become an important problem that thecollege education and socialist spiritual civilization construction will have to face. Inthis situation, combing main-theme TV and cinematic works with college students’ideological and political education come to be a very important subject: using theirrich contents for ideological and political education, establishing scientific teachingmethods and long-term systems, allowing main-theme TV and cinematic works to playa positive role in college students’ ideological and political education.
