Study On Contemporary College Students’ Consumption Ethics

With the rapid development of social economy, people’s consumption level has improved greatly. Meanwhile, people’s consumption concept has undergone tremendous changes due to the external environment changes and the impact of Western consumerism thought. Contemporary college students are affected inevitably. As builders and successors of socialism with Chinese characteristics, that contemporary students’consumption behavior is reasonable or not has a profound impact on the entire state and society. Therefore, doing research on college students’ consumption ethics could not only guide them to form a reasonable consumption attitudes and spending habits and establish a correct outlook on life and values, but also be conducive to purification of the consumption ethics of the entire society and furthermore, have a good role model of consumption guide to other groups in society. Objectively speaking, the mainstream of contemporary college students’ consumption is reasonable and positive, but there are still some consumer ethical issues of concern after calm analysis.This paper outlines the status of college students’ consumption, which are strong desire for consumption, levels of consumption being diversification; pursuit of individuality and fashion during the consumption process; consumption patterns showing the trend of socialization; being some serious comparisons. Then it points out the problems in college students’consumption activities and gives ethical analysis of these issues. In the following, it explains the causes of these problems from students themselves, families, universities and social environment in order to guide the contemporary college students to establish the health of the consumption ethics which includes dismissing luxury and advocating thrifty——continuing to carry forward the fine tradition of Chinese nation, hard work and diligence and thrift; moderate consumption——consumption compatible with their own needs as well as family economic capacity; harmonious consumption——maintaining harmony between material consumption and the spirit of consumption; responsible consumption——consumption should establish a sense of responsibility of protecting the natural environment and natural resources and the maintenance of social ethics; fair consumption——not infringe other people’s consumer rights and adhere to the intergenerational fair during the consumption process; civilized consumption——adhere to the positive spirit of cultural consumption, green consumption and sustainable consumption for the purpose of promoting the comprehensive development.
