| The study aims to investigate the word frequency effect and the word size effect on the reading efficiency of the low vision students. and to explore what size is suitable for the low vision students in the daily learning to improve their reading efficiency. The paper also discusses whether improving reading efficiency can affect the mental health status of the low vision and the countermeasures in education. Two experiments were designed:one is recognition of one-character Chinese word naming task using2(frequency:low frequency, high frequency) x4(word size4,3,2,1) within-subjects design, the other is the reading comprehension of Chinese simple sentences using single factor design by testing25low vision students. The results shows the following:(1) The main effect of word size is significant in recognition of one-character Chinese word naming task.(2)Word size has no significant effect on sentences. But reading time of the sentence is reduced with the increase of word size.In the end, several countermeasures are put forward:(1) Pay attention to word size and frequency when you choose the vocabulary for scientific visual rehabilitation training.(2) Consider synthetically various factors when you choose the sentences.(3) Stimulate low vision students’interest to read, develop their visual potential and promote their personality development. |
