The writing ability is an important content of Chinese subject in the College Entrance Exam, but also a necessary skill to our study and daily work in the modern society. The College Entrance Exam is an important form for testing the students’writing ability, but the present situation of the recent years is not optimistic. Due to the influence of the College Entrance Exam, our middle school teaching is badly influenced by the examination-oriented education, and the College Entrance Exam proposition mechanism and evaluation mechanism is lack of objectivity and scientific; writing books of high school lack of a complete system; the composition teaching practice is optional and utilitarian, having a bad effect on the subject matter, the theme, the structure and the language of the College Entrance Exam composition. To strengthen the students’ writing basic skills, improve writing level, promote the process of Chinese education quality and train the students’Chinese application ability comprehensively, we must fundamentally solve the problems existing in the College Entrance Exam composition.This paper is based on the bad present situation of the College Entrance Exam composition in recent ten years, divided into five parts. First the introduction of the paper shows the importance of writing for the middle school students, and then distinguishes composition from society writing and daily writing, leading to the significance of improving compositions’present situation. The first chapter combining students’exam composition, summarizes four main composition problems in the nearly10years:old and identical subject matter, different from our familiar life; pretending nobleness on the theme; stereotypical structure; luxuriant language and overflowing parallelism, doing great harm to the cultivation of students’basic writing skills. The second chapter deeply analyses the reasons of all those problems, dating back to the history of the College Entrance Exam, writing books and the composition teaching practice. Chapter3contacting with the reasons, puts forward some corresponding feasible countermeasures, including perfecting the College Entrance Exam system, promoting the reform of writing books, and optimizing writing teaching process. How to optimize the teaching process of composition? The author suggests learning from America SAT composition assessment system, and puts forward some ideas. Meanwhile, the teachers should make full use of the modern information technology for teaching, such as blog writing. I hope to improve the present situation, and enhance the students’basic writing skills, and promote the quality teaching process. Finally the conclusion makes an overall comb and prospect about the paper.
